Inside this family-owned and operated venue, vintage photographs, warm lighting and booth seating create a cosy yet versatile setting that interchanges between airy and casual by day to chic by night. An extensive menu showcases an array of authentic Roman-style dishes, all made using fresh and seasonal produce – think confit duck leg, barley, porcini and wild mushroom ragu, herbs, onion, garlic and Parmesan; alongside slices of mozzarella, spicy nduja sausage, salami, mushroom ragu, garlic and rocket pizza.

Nestled amongst riverside treetops on Southgate's mid level, La Camera boasts two balconies with stunning views over The Yarra River and iconic Flinders Street Station. The interior is adorned with vintage black-and-white photographs depicting the history of the family that has owned and operated the restaurant since it opened in 2000.
The menu takes its inspiration from Rome, where owner Lino Scidone and his brother, La Camera's manager Paul, travel regularly with their chefs to develop new ideas. The emphasis is on quality ingredients as well as fresh, seasonal produce.

La Camera has 3 main rooms for functions. Two balconies with stunning views of the city, overlooking The Yarra River. A small balcony that entertains 20- 25 guests(seated) and a larger balcony that entertains 50- 60 people(seated). We have a large area inside that accommodates up to 90 patrons. Yeh, but nah
Seafood pasta not great. Two unpeeled prawns to deal with with a knife and fork (no finger bowl), oily, unexciting. Great view, great cocktails, good service.

Great food...everything from breakfast, lunch, dinner or a quick snack or drink as well as take out. The balcony is a great dining area overlooking Southbank and great for lunch on a 'nice' day. Pizzas are the best in Melbourne!!!
Good italian food. The serving sizes are plentiful and the meals are simple, good tasting food. Service is a little slow but the place has been full each time I have been there and that may go some way to explaining it. Simple wine menu but at least there is a variety of choice.
