A vibrant & innovative restaurant set in a 145 year old bluestone building on the fringes of Melbourne’s CBD, Charcoal Lane successfully takes traditional Aboriginal ingredients and fuses them effortlessly into true contemporary Australian gastronomy. Roasted marron fondue is a flavour packed triumph, served with angel hair pasta, lemon myrtle & baby basil. Yellow fin tuna is perfectly cooked and skilfully accompanied by vanilla carrot cream & smoked crystal bay prawns. Assiette of peach, muntries berries coulis & strawberry gum is a heavenly finish. Service is unfailing, smiling and professional.

Located on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, Charcoal Lane pays homage to modern Australian cookery with an emphasis on Aboriginal flavours.

THE BLUESTONE BUILDING
Built in 1865, 136 Gertrude Street was originally home to the English, Scottish and Australian Bank Limited. From 1973–1992 it was the important home of the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS). Today, the ground floor of this impressive, recently redeveloped bluestone building is home to Charcoal Lane.
