Thai Basil started up 7 years ago and is set on the vibrant backdrop of Geelong's CBD, only a short walk to shop, the new Westfield, bars, hotels, cafes and only a 5 minute walk to the spectacular shores of Eastern Beach, Corio Bay.

Soity (Jimmy) took over the restaurant from his brother a chef, who began Thai Basil and which has grown in popularity over the years, locally famed for its myriad of flavoursome and fresh Thai and Chinese dishes.

This trendy noodle bar is a bright, sharp and chic style addition to the Ryrie St dining scene. The staff are highly talented, quick to the tables and very friendly, traditionally charming with big smiles. Also all are highly knowledgeable on menu items and in advising on which dishes complement each other. The dining room greets you with a very clean and bright appearance, a high ceiling with contemporary downlights and funky suede couches for those waiting for takeaway orders.

Indulge in fresh and aromatic Thai and authentic Chinese delights, with entrees starting at only $4.50 - $5.50 and main dishes are priced at only $9.50- $13.80!

Savour the fresh and crispy ‘Salt and Pepper Squid' to start with. All dishes at Thai Basil are always served fresh and delicious in true Thai-noodle restaurant style, with expected favourites on offer like the creamy coconut infused ‘green curry', the fabulously nutty ‘satay chicken' or the ever-popular ‘laksa'.

Now the real draw card to this place is the noodles. They have a plethora of noodles here to satisfy every tastebud and all for a very reasonable price! Their ‘Pad Thai Noodles', are perfectly wok tossed rice noodles with egg, chicken and shrimp. Additionally their ‘Tom Yum' is an absolute must try – this renowned hot and spicy authentic soup is served with vermicelli and your choice of meat, making for a zesty and absolutely sensational meal. Expect tasty meals with prices around $10-$12 for most main meals, which is fabulous value.

Thai Basil is fully licensed with a sound selection of well-priced contemporary wines available, both by the bottle or glass, or BYO is available at $1 per glass. Additionally the beer selection is impressive offering premium, boutique and traditional Thai beers (which are very popular) at extremely good prices particularly for imported beers! Staff at Thai Basil encourage customers to get into the spirit of their homeland, mixing beer with cuisine!
