About Kalamata Lighthouse Olive Groves
Kalamata at Lighthouse Olive Grove is located on the Bellarine Peninsula in Drysdale with spectacular views of the 12,000 olive tree plantation and distant ocean views through to the Bass Straight.
The Lighthouse Olive Grove was est 10 years ago, and Kalamata Café opened late 2007 and soon they will be selling Cellar door including soaps, oils and moisturiser, all made from olive oils.
Kalamata at Lighthouse Olive Grove was officially launched on 9th December with MC Roger Grant, CEO of Geelong Otway Tourism. Mr Grant said that Kalamata had a main point of difference in that it was using and selling local produce.
Chef Brian Elliot has two ambitions - to be an ambassador for The Bellarine and to make Kalamata his embassy. "The menu will use the vegetables and olives grown here and the produce and wines from a 15 mile radius of the restaurant. Wherever possible, we will be preparing the food right here on the premises. I intend to bake both sough dough and yeast leavened breads as well as pastries, tarts and biscuits."
Guest of honour at the launch was Geelong AFL football coach Mark Thompson. He has compared his vision for the prmiership of the Club to the philosophy held by the owner of Kalamata. "To compete against bigger Clubs you have to do something special. You have to build something that is meant to last."
Kalamata at Lighthouse Olive Grove has a tranquil atmosphere set amongst 11,000 olive trees with spectacular views to Queensscliff and Swan Bay.
With dishes starting from $11.50 it is very affordable. As Brian Elliot said, "Kalamata is not the place you go to once or twice a year. My view is that it is the place you go to every second weekend or so for Sunday lunch, or maybe just call in for a coffee.

Night trading
Kalamata is pleased to announce the imminent arrival of night trading. Kalamata will be offering dinner on Friday nights via bookings, commencing September. Set menu consisting of amuse bouche, entree, main, dessert and petit four.
