The Hothouse Cafe Overview
Just 30 minutes from Hobart, The Hothouse Café is a unique eatery perched on a Bruny Island hilltop overlooking Adventure Bay. A former greenhouse decked out with garden furniture provides not only the café’s charmingly quirky quarters, but also year-round warmth and panoramic views surpassed only by the display of daffodils in August and September. Meanwhile, the vegetable garden surrounding The Hothouse supplies many of the ingredients for the menu. Prepared by co-host Fiona, dishes here are fresh, wholesome, and generous in both size and flavour. Breakfast might be scrambled eggs and chunky toast with smoked salmon, capers and sour cream; lunch a succulent gourmet beef burger; and dinner freshly shucked oysters downed with a crisp Tasmanian white.
