"Romance on the Bay" The location of the Restaurant is on the marina, with fantastic views over looking Georges Bay, with a range of fishing and pleasure craft, out across the harbor. The restaurant has been purposely built over the water, giving you the impression that you are floating, creating a very relaxing ambience. We chose to have tasting dishes from their diverse menu. Starting with 6 Georges Bay Oysters, 2 au natural, with lemon, 2 chilled spice tomato consommé shooters, 2 with grilled smokey tomato glaze, pancetta, crispy shallots. All sumptuous. Steamed Lobster & Blue Eye Trevalla wontons in crayfish cream brandy and saffron broth, trout pearls. Very delicate flavors. Then Tartar of lightly smoked ocean trout with whipped horseradish cream, marinated fennel and soft herbs, trout pearls. This was strong and tasty. Their signature dish, crispy squid with roasted rice and chilli spice salt, Thai herbs, bonito mayonnaise, miso paste. Frankly this was outstanding for taste and texture. The house made potato and pumpkin gnocchi with mild blue cheese sauce, pear chutney, toasted walnut crust, was creamy and delicious. The chargrilled quail, with rocket pear and roasted walnut salad, black elderflower syrup, local olive oil, with the diamond island Pinot Noir, was delightful. We shared the cured and wood smoked free range pork belly with potato Rostie, steamed baby carrots, pea purée, red pepper coulis. The pork was tender and the contrast of the green pea purée with the red pepper coulis were both visually and palate teasingly exciting. We finished with sweets, Duo poached pear, with a chai syrup and spun toffee, and a warm bitter chocolate Lindt tart, raspberry coulis, King Island cream. Magnificent. The coffee was Taspresso organic, finishing off an evening of gastronomic pleasure. With each dish we drank the restaurants recommended accompaniments of Tasmanian wines, all extremely well chosen. Service, ambience, menu, wines, could not be faulted.
