About The Greek Mezze
Adelaide's lively 'eat street' welcomes traditional Greek cuisine. The Greek Mezze (pronounced 'mez-ah') is an impressive addition to the city's popular dining destination - Gouger Street.
Opened in February 2006, the Greek Mezze serves authentic Greek fare with a fresh, modern style
In Greece, mezze are mini dishes designed to complement beverage, tease the taste buds and encourage diners to linger around a table for good conversation.
At the Greek Mezze, mezze platters include tasty dolmades (vine leaves filled with fresh herbs and rice); spanakopita (spinach and fetta in phyllo pastry); kalamari, octopus, whitebait and bakaliaro (preserved fish); moussaka (lamb, eggplant, tomato and cheese); keftedes (meatballs); krokettes (zuchini and fetta patties) served with skordalia (garlic and potato dip); tis skaras ortiki (marinated quail scented with rosemary); louckania (pork and orange sausage) and two styles of cheese, haloumi and the pan fried saganaki me kefalogravera.
Proprietors Ron Masullo and Chris Hornopoulos with their team of chefs have created a tempting menu of traditional style marinades. Main course highlights include arni cutlets (lamb cutlets char grilled in a vegetable tourlu); katsiki furno (braised baby goat and potato) and garides saganaki (prawns cooked with tomato and fetta).
We offer a lively atmosphere with the Greek dining that's unique along Couger Street, says Ron Masullo.
Open for both lunch and dinner, the Greek Mezze also offers breakfast Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.
'As well as serving traditional bacon and eggs, diners can taste a Greek flavoured breakfast featuring shrimp and onion and Greek sausage omelettes as well as bacon and cheese rolled up in pita bread' says Ron.
Seating up to 85 patrons, the restaurant's decor is sleek and contemporary featuring scenic black and white photographs of Greece taken by Ron and Chris on recent travels to exotic Greek Isles. The stylish setting provides an ideal location for work functions and group celebrations.
The Greek Mezze also offers commercial and boardroom catering; take away and is BYO ($10 corkage per bottle) and licensed with wine available by the glass.
