Sea and Vines - An Element of Chocolate @ Bracegirdle's Glenelg

Join us for an an Evening of Delight We are going to use the super food cocoa in our light and helathy menu. It is inspired by exploring both its sweet and savoury sides, sometimes as a spice, sometimes as an infusion, but always in a moderate way. The roasted cocoa nibs (the meat of the bean) play a key role as a spice - an infuser of toasty/nutty flavour. Our dark Belgian chocolate is used in dressings, dips, and of course, our desserts and multi award winning hand made chocolates.

After having such a tasty experience with The Haus, cheese library. We decided to return to experience the dinner menu. Our choice of beverages from their large cellar we ordered a Pear cider and a Mclaren vale boutique beer. "very pleasant". From the exhaustive menu for starters. We ate Coffin Bay Oysters, natural, freshly shucked, with wakame, Lemmon/lime to squeeze. The oysters were, large, fresh, absolutely delicious. Up there with the best. Octopus with ruby grapefruit juice and rocket salad. The octopus was enhanced by the ruby grapefruit juice, scrumptious. For mains we ordered their signature dish. Crisp skinned half duck. Twice cooked, with Chinese broccoli, honey, soy and ginger glaze. This was prepared and presented perfectly. I ordered the Duccka Atlantic Salmon, pan seared, with roast trellis tomatoes, glazed pac choy, lime. This dish was a fish gourmet's delight. Both of these plates were, gluten free. But read on the coup de grad was a highly original Rocky Road Pizza for two, dark coverture, marshmallows, Turkish delight, macadamia & pistachio nuts, vanilla bean icecream. Completed with coffee. The restaurant provides a wonderfull array of different style seating, formal to informal, through to a well designed alfresco area. We sat inside at a high seated Oak table for two. The piano player singing and playing appropriate songs, locals, tourists and families from near and afar, chatting and enjoying such fine food, with inviting surroundings. We left late absolutely satisfied, knowing we had just experience an evening which would not be easily forgotten.

"Cheese Lovers Alert" The Haus has an extensive cheese and beverage library, library is an excellent word to describe such a large selection of over twenty five cheeses. Swiss, French, Italian, English and Local. Goat, Cow, Ewe, Soft, Cream, Hard, Blue, truly a cheese gourmet's delight. We sampled, Goat, Blue and a Hard, all mouth watering, finishing with with a very aromatic coffee. We found the service friendly but not intrusive. This selection is available all day until late. All the cheeses are accompanied by water wheels, flat lavoche, muscatels, quince paste, rose petals and quince jellies. A very tasteful, relaxing, experience.
