The Brewery Overview

Based in a historic Townsville landmark, The Brewery is the perfect place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. Formerly the Townsville Post Office (circa 1897), The Brewery has old world character in spades and delights patrons with modern Australian fare like slow braised plum and rosemary lamb shank with creamy mashed potato or a flavourful Thai prawn curry on jasmine rice. There is an extensive range of local and international wines, beers and spirits to choose from, though of course no visit to The Brewery is complete without a taste of their home brew. Choose from seven different beers, all brewed only metres away from the bar.

The Brewery Restaurant Menu

With starters to share such as Bruschetta of char grilled sourdough, roma tomato, onion and fresh basil, you may not want to stop, it's so delicious. Alongside your brew of choice, however, there is much more to enjoy including salads, steaks and brewery fare as in Slow braised plum and rosemary lamb shank with creamy mashed potato. Something for the kids is also listed and there are desserts galore.

There's Bitter and Blonde (though hopefully no bitter blondes), and Tavern treats to share as is 6 pieces of Crispy duck wontons with Singapore sauce. You have to check this menu out if not for the comedic brewing process outlined in colourful animation.

Its the first time we have eaten in the restaurant side of this place, I love the bar and little area with the wonderful setees to sit on, its far to easy to stay there longer than planned. The restaurant staff were lovely and despite having a rather large booking in half way through our meal they were great and we were not forgotten, we were advised of the large booking and asked if we would like to sit a bit further away, it was nice to be asked. The starters to share are a great idea to make a nice easy relaxed meal, for main I ordered the pork belly with soy glaze and coconut rice, the fat was rendered down perfectly and it is to date the best pork belly I have tried in Townsville. Im still searching for crackling on the pork belly but im coming to accept that may be a British thing and ill have to cook that myself. My husband ordered the Lamb shank and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our dessert was OK and the wine was lovely. The choice is simple and well priced, we choise the Sangiovese which was lovely, full of flavour and stood up to the richness of the mains we chose.
