Specialising in innovative Thai cuisine, The Tamarind is run by renowned chef Paul Blain, and head chef Daniel Jarrett. MEET OUR CHEF: Daniel Jarrett

Daniel Jarrett has 12 years of experience and his passion for food experience has taken him far and wide, from part of a large brigade in a well-known resort, to cooking in an intimate historical mountain restaurant. Coming to The Tamarind from his position as Head Chef at Ebb Waterfront Dining & Cellar, Daniel puts a little of his passion in every dish in the hope that each guest takes away an unforgettable memory.

Daniels love of the clean flavours of Asian food and the healthy style of eating infuses everything he cooks. And while he works true to Thai methods and techniques, he also insists on using the best of regional produce and product to marry the harmony of tastes of sweet, sour, hot and salty. His passion for and knowledge of this wonderful cuisine is extensive and inspiring.

Why let the pleasure end with your meal? You can learn how to cook Thai like an expert at one of The Tamarind's cooking schools – but these do fill fast so pre-booking is essential! You can also relax after your delicious meal as The Tamarind is conveniently located on Spicers Tamarind Retreat, a luxurious retreat with 12 private villas, cedar hot tubs, in-room fireplaces, and an onsite day spa featuring 4 treatment room and a Hydro therapy room with spa, rain shower and steamroom.

Discover everything you ever wanted to know about this exciting cooking style, from where to find the right ingredients, to creating the perfect Thai dessert, then savour every mouthful of your very own creation. Daniel's passion for this cuisine is infectious; his knowledge and understanding of ingredients, techniques and the balance of flavours are effectively conveyed through his relaxed and informal approach. Each intimate class of up to 12 includes 5 recipes plus plus lunch, wine, Tamarind Cooking School apron, and full recipes.
