About Sunshine Coast

The perfect mix of coast and country, from the splendour of the Glass-House Mountains, to the crystal clear waters of the Pacific Coast, the Sunshine Coast is the ideal place to relax and unwind! Tantalise your tastebuds in award winning restaurants; shop till you drop at the Eumundi Markets; get back to nature at Australia Zoo; trek through the pristine rainforests; visit wetland sanctuaries teeming with wildlife; go surfing with dolphins; experience the stunning views of the Blackall Ranges; or marvel at the magnificent Coloured Sands enroute to the worlds largest sand island – the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island. The diversity and beauty of the Sunshine Coast is truly amazing! National parks in the region include: Cooloola National Park, Conondale National Park, Mooloolah River National Park, Glass House Mountains National Park, Kondalilla National Park and don't miss the opportunity to go koala spotting in Australia's most visited national park- Noosa National Park.

When to Visit Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast has one of the highest sunshine readings in the world, averaging seven hours a day. Summer average temperatures between December and February range from 17 degrees C. to 28 degrees C. Though there are warmer days the coastal areas enjoy sea breezes. Spring and autumn temperatures range from 13 to 25 degrees C. And winter (June to August) ranges from 7 to 22 degrees C. Temperatures in the Blackall Range can be several degrees cooler.

Getting Around Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is accessible by road, rail and air. The airport that services the region is officially known as the Maroochydore/Sunshine Coast Airport and is situated on the coastal strip five kilometres north of Maroochydore. The main train station for the Sunshine Coast is at Nambour. Bus and Taxi services are plentiful but being such a spread out place with little towns dotting the countryside and coastline, the sunshine coast is best explored with your own vehicle. The roads are excellent, however if you intend going bush or driving along the beach you will need a 4WD.
