King's Cross Overview

King's Cross has for a long time been known as Australia’s Red light capital. Most people who visit Sydney will wander through the Cross, if only for a look at how the "other half" live. In recent years however, “the Cross” has started to evolve into a richly vibrant part of the city. The strip clubs, topless waitresses, adult bookshops and nightclubs are still there, but the fringes are now home to some of Sydney’s best restaurants and trendiest cafes attracting a different type of visitor.

Kings Cross, the most densely populated square kilometre in Australia, buzzes with nightclubs, live music, adult entertainment and more than two hundred of the city's finest restaurants, bars and cafes.

Australia's best known entertainment district never sleeps and holds appeal for late night revellers, jet-lagged travellers and the energetic in-crowd with bars that attract the stars, and restaurants by signature chefs.

Away from the bright lights, the Cross boasts some fine examples of colonial and art deco architecture such as Elizabeth Bay House and Tusculum House.
