Kanemochi Japanese Restaurant Overview

With a multifarious selection of 90s music piping in through Kanemochi’s dining room, this modern restaurant is a little bit of Japan conveniently located nearby the heart of Manly. On their regular menu try the yaki gyoza or the grilled kingfish neck entrée; for something light and crispy give the tempura a go or their Kanemochi roll which standouts with its unique creative style. The dining room itself is nicely fitted out and the service is polite and entertaining, all adding to the charm. Come away from the hustle and bustle of Manly wharf & the busy beach to the simple but sweet Japanese eatery, Kanemochi.

THE FOOD
You'll find at Kanemochi all your Japanese favourites that you crave for, including the popular teriyaki chicken. Kanemochi has an extensive menu that will satisfy everyone, from the experienced Japanese diner to the travelling newcomer. A selection of hot dishes is available on the menu including the famous Seafood gyoza appetiser. For those wanting something a little lighter, the freshly prepared sashimi & sushi menu is ideal. Popular choices include the restaurant's own Kanemochi roll which has a delicious combination of seafood & vegetables.

THE SETTING
Typical Japanese ornaments of dolls and puppets adorn the setting at Kanemochi, cute and a bit quirky. Diners can relax amongst the non-stop flowering cherry blossoms, thanks to the intricate detailed wallpaper of course. Between the Zen spaces of wallpaper are bold black painted sections. The combination of the two creates clarity & calmness. Glistening detailed lights create a glow and gusto, but ever so lightly, as is the Japanese way.

THE SERVICE
Expect service with sincerity and a smile at Kanemochi. Despite being relaxed and cosy the staff are eager to please, without overdoing it. The owner prides himself on the continual training of the staff, ensuring they are up to date with the menu & wines on offer.

We ordered the Hot & Cold platter for $100 for four people. It was a feast. Absolutely delicious. Apart from the staff needing some lessons on serving from the left etc. they were very friendly and gorgeous girls. The evening was great for us and our visitors from Melbourne. I can't wait for an excuse to go back!
