Echoing the fine cuisine and warm ambience of restaurants in provincial Europe, Fleurs Restaurant is a place designed for celebrating great food and wine. Fleurs’ stylish cocktail lounge and individual dining areas provide the perfect setting for intimate dinners or large functions. Featuring only the finest local ingredients, the menu offers simple dishes skilfully done with boutique wines to match. You might be tempted by lobster and bug tail ravioli with finger lime beurre blanc and Huon salmon caviar, or Portuguese spatchcock slow cooked then barbecued and served on polenta with tomato, star anise and coriander sauce. To finish, try the pique assiette for a taste of Fleurs’ favourite desserts.

We went for my daughter's birthday and at first I was aprehensive, given that the restaurant is situated in a motel on the busy highway. I needn't have been concerned, the atmosphere is quiet and sophisticated. Even though we were late we were invited by the lovely consierge to take a seat in the bar for a superb cocktail. When WE were ready we were shown to our table in a private dining area which had been decorated for the occasion. We were thoroughly relaxed by this stage and impressed by the menu. We had been expecting to need 3 courses but luckily our waitress advised us that 2 would probably be encough. She was right, the portion sizes of wonderfully prepared food from local fresh produce, was large. So much so that only half of the family could fit in desert. And that was another matter again. My husband chose the Creme Brulee, which was accompanied by caramalised figs, guava puree,and a curd. (I cannot recall the flavour as he liked it so much he refused to share, lol)Our waitress was also very knowledgable about wine matching and suggested a wine we probably wouldnt have chosen shich matched perfectly with our meal. Afterwards the chef, Adam Smith, came out for a chat and we were able to thank him for the superb meal. As we left our daughter was given a small box of chocolates as a birthday present. All in all we were made to feel very special.
I cannot fault this restaurant in any way. From the outstanding food, through to service, atmosphere and excellent value I would definitely describe it as the best restaurant in Ballina, if not the Northern Rivers.
