Like the name suggests, dining at Ritual Restaurant in Nelson Bay is a ceremony. Almost like a rite of passage for every fine dining enthusiast, this is no ordinary night out. Avant-garde, sensual, unique... Words don’t do this restaurant justice; you have to taste it for yourself. The dishes are all made from fresh organic produce and you select from a taste menu of amazing choices. Personalised service and even an appearance of the Chef & his wife make this place exclusive, yet friendly. Ritual Restaurant's unique combination of food, flavours and textures showcases the best of molecular cooking.

GET AWAY
Located in beautiful Nelsons Bay surrounded by Tomaree National Park on one side and the sea on the other, Ritual Restaurant couldn't have chosen a better location. If you're a golf lover, why not hit a few holes before dinner at the Duchmans Bay Golf Course next door?

PHILOSOPHY
For a dining experience like no other, Ritual provides a 12 course tasting journey aimed at getting diners thinking about flavour. There is no written menu. Instead, diners are provided taster spoons containing base flavours of the dish and are asked to choose via their palate. Dining here is all about discovering the science of flavour and the endless combinations used to create something unforgettable. Feeling adventurous? Try the 'smoked eel and chocolate' (mille feuille of Oss smoked eel, chocolate infused choko, potato & cherry); it's definitely something you don't hear of every day.

ATMOSPHERE AND EXCLUSIVITY
The ambience of Ritual is one of relaxed dining. Since the restaurant only has 12 seats, it makes this the perfect setting for that first date or people looking for something different for their average night out.

FOOD PREPARATION
Ritual focuses on Australian grown local ingredients that are environmentally and ethically produced. These are then prepared by smoking, salting, pickling...the list goes on. When it comes to cooking, don't be surprised to see liquid nitrogen used. Ritual yogurt is homemade, as are the cheeses and butters so if you want food that is unique and won't get anywhere else in the world - this is the place to come.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Masterminds behind this extraordinary restaurant are Chef Carl Kenzler and his wife Kelie, right beside him with her ideas. Carl's love of food and experience combined with Kelie's science degree makes this the perfect partnership for creating food that is out of this world. Each dish is created with a personal touch using cooking techniques that is truly avant-garde.

DRINKS AND SERVICE
The degustation is offered with matching beverages and the accuracy of these combinations is outstanding. Service is personalised and the wait staff are always willing to explain each dish or give suggestions to improve your tasting experience.
