The award-winning Emerson’s at Pokolbin is a European influenced modern Australian restaurant bringing intimate dining to locals and visitors to the lower Hunter Valley. The chef knows that visitors are there to enjoy fine cuisine and taste famous varietal wines; Emerson's at Pokolbin offers just that, all in the beauty of 25 acres of vineyards and gardens. "The greatness of food lies in its simplicity" is the motto here, and recipes are based on classics of bygone days adapted to local produce, the Australian lifestyle and climate. Slow roasted pork belly with seared scallops, sweet corn foam, crackling & tamarind gel could feature along with pan roasted fish of the day with fresh peas, spec lardons & saffron mussel froth.

Emerson's at Pokolbin offers a classy menu selection complementary to the luxurious estate. Their eight course degustation is must try when in the area on the weekend.

ABOUT EMERSON'S AT POKOLBIN
Once the Casuarina Restaurant, we are now Emerson's having refurbished and reopened in September 2010. Pokolbin wine country in the Hunter Valley is a perfect location for our establishment, with quiet leafy views of the working vineyard and the Brokenback Mountains.

Considering the luxurious Inn surrounds, we went with a spacious design complementary to that of Casuarina's design. We're proud of the look we came up with: Classic, relaxed and romantic with white clothed tables, napkins, crockery, cutlery and glassware all to keep you in the right mood for tranquil dining in modern French fashion. We seat up to 70 people comfortably and have an adjoining private dining room seating up to 16 people and typically fill up on Friday and Saturday nights as well as Sundays during lunch.

Though our customers are usually smart and casual in style, our knowledgeable staff dress formally, serving dishes from our seasonable menu featuring produce sourced from local suppliers and markets. We have our own wine cellar, so our chef works to ensure there are excellent food and wine pairings for connoisseurs. He is now the new owner & head chef, paying close attention to each serving ensuring recipes are followed and everything received is full of flavour and presented with eloquence.

Having worked as an executive chef for years at Peppers Hunter Valley and Hope Estate Winery, Emerson Rodriguez is pleased to move on and focus on his new establishment, carrying his own name. Originally from the Philippines, he is a chef of contemporary modern Australian cuisine inspired by the likes of Tetsuya Wakuda and Susar Lee.

Emerson Rodriguez will never claim to have one signature dish, per se, rather emphasising that each and every dish is treated with precision. With Shane Seafood Gourmet supplies as a restaurant source, Emerson guarantees that fare from the ocean is the freshest - something to keep in mind when perusing Emerson's varied menu.

I had been a long time fan of Chef Emerson when he was at the helm of 'Chez Pok'. Emerson and his wife Samantha have now taken the leap and opened up their own eatery at Casurina Estate and let me tell you his food is as good as ever! It's amazing to see what Chef Emerson is creating without the restraints of "Resort Dining". He is cooking seriuos food for serious food lovers.
The lunch menu focuses on Emersons Filipino/Spanish heritage with a variety of tapas dishes. Standouts are the pate, garlic prawns, salt cod croquettes and for Dessert the Mango Set Creme is delicious!

Dinner is more Formal Modern Australian Dining. Its hard to go past a degustation especially one as well priced as this! Pan fried breast and conft leg of quail is a winner as is the Roasted Pork Belly with Scallops and Tamarind Gel.

Service is another strong point. Emersons wife Samantha is a newcomer to the industry and has taken to it like a duck to water. All waitstaff are very curtious and have excellent knowledge of the food and wine being served.

Its great to see Emerson out on his own cooking from the heart!

Very Highly recommended.One of our favourites!
We have dined at Emerson's restaurant on a number of occasions now & and every time we are blown away by the quality and presentation of the meals.We always leave feeling very satisfied with our experience.The food is just outstanding!
If you are visiting the Hunter Valley Vineyards we strongly recommend dining at Emersons.
