Central Coast Restaurant, Accommodation & Travel Guide

About Central Coast

With its golden beaches the Central Coast is a great weekend escape or an ideal holiday destination. One hours drive north of Sydney, the Central Coast offers endless possibilities - whether you want to go abseiling, horse riding, surfing, scuba diving, or just relax with a good book. Avoca, Terrigal, Wamberal and McMaster’s Beach are no longer the sleepy little fishing villages they used to be. You’ll find luxury hotels, cosmopolitan restaurants and boutiques beside long white sandy beaches. This coastal expanse is now far more chic and extensive. Further south you’ll find Ettalong, Patonga, Umina, Woy Woy and Gosford. With a unique blend of attractions there is much to see and do in this wondrous Brisbane Water land-and-seascape. This is an area where a pleasant stroll becomes an idyllic and nostalgic experience. Golden beaches, sheltered tidal inlets, pockets of sub-tropical rainforest and the Brisbane Water National Park offer a host of recreational pursuits in the great outdoors.

When to Visit Central Coast

The Central Coast is great to visit anytime, but if you really have to pick one time, September/October are best. During the spring months the temperatures are warm enough to enjoy the beaches, without being too hot! The summer months of December through March can be hot and a little humid. By April the temperature and humidity starts to decrease. May through September are usually mild to warm but the nights can get cool, especially inland.

Getting Around Central Coast

The closest Airports are the Sydney Airport or Newcastle, (located in Port Stephens, just north of Newcastle). City Rail links the towns of the Central Coast to New Castle and Sydney. Once there, public transport (buses and taxis) in and around the towns are inexpensive and easy. First-class Roads make driving throughout the Central Coast simple. From Sydney Follow Head north to Hornsby and follow the Sydney – Newcastle Freeway. From Newcastle follow the Newcastle Link Rd to the Freeway and head south.
