National Portrait Gallery Overview

The National Portrait Gallery aims to increase the understanding of the Australian people, their identity, history and culture. The new National Portrait Gallery building, situated on King Edward Terrace, Parkes, Canberra, displays some 400 portraits of people who have shaped Australia and who continue to shape our nation. The National Portrait Gallery comprises spaces for the exhibitions, a café, shop, function room, theatrette, education and school group areas, and basement car parking.
