Barocca Cafe and Caramel Bar Overview

This smart diner in the Canberra CBD and close to the National University is a welcome little haven. Suited corporate types drop in for dinner, mixing with university students and city-dwelling couples by Barocca Cafe’s earthy and reliable menu. The modest dishes are uncomplicated and perfectly prepared down to the last rice grain; it’s no wonder they have a large local following. A superb entrée of salt and pepper squid is simply drizzled with chilli aioli and a side of rocket leaf salad. Nothing is more satisfying then a well done steak and Barocca’s char grilled marinated scotch fillet with creamy potato bake and Dijon mustard sauce is exactly that. The friendly service ensures you leave smiling too.

Troy and the staff at Cafe Barocca are friendly and flexible in making your special occassion one to remember. We had my mum's 80th at the restaurant and really enjoyed the selection of food that came out for the banquet. An elegant area was set up for the cake, presents and photos. When it came to desert time, the cake was cut up and plated with berries and fresh cream. With a full bar, coffee, free parking at the back on the weekend and rest rooms on the premises - we will be back.

A surprisingly lovely meal and brilliant service by the owner/chef Todd and waiter Peter. (I know the names because I made the effort to find out because I was so impressed.) It made going out into the chilly winter air worth it. A lovely experience.

Dear Troy, Thank you for making our wedding reception a success! We really appreciated all your personal help with the planning. Your atrium was a wonderful venue for our guests to mingle over canapes before the meal, the restaurant layout was perfect, and your staff were friendly and helpful. Most important of all: the food was great! Sincerely, Barbara

Me and my partner had our engagement party at Barocca and were extremely impressed with all aspects of the function. Our event was a cocktail party for over 120 people, and we utilised the atrium, as well as the restaurant. The event was a huge success, the food was great and I would like to thank Troy and his staff for an unforgettable night.
