Located in the heart of Bairnsdale is an oasis for foodies and coeliacs alike at elegant little café Paper Chase Café & Providore on Main Street. Converted from an old goods emporium, sit back against the cosy walls or in the sunny courtyard and enjoy a morning fruit smoothie, while exploring a menu of honest comfort food and an abundance of gluten and dairy-free options. Eating gluten-free has never been this easy to sit alongside loved ones and devour a plate of mouth-watering scrambled eggs, chorizo and crumbled feta, or relish in waffles with bacon and maple syrup. Lunch-goers can devour a slow-cooked chicken burrito with Mexican spices, tasty cheese and sour cream; don’t forget to check out the range of delicious, taste-tested gluten-free products along with other delights.

Paper Chase Cafe & Providore is situated in and old merchant building in the heart of the Bairnsdale CBD. The owners Andrew and Carolyn Guy have a combined 40 years experience in the hospitality and customer service industries. They are both born and bred East Gippslander's along with the rest of the culinary team and front of house staff.
Carolyn being a passionate foodie and cook also has Coeliac Disease. Her knowledge and understanding of food intolerance's is paramount to the cafe, the cafe menu and the retail range. Carolyn is always happy to speak to anyone with dietary concerns and is willing to cater to your dietary needs. You won't see Andrew very often as he is Assistant Manager at the Bairnsdale RSL, but when here, he is always up for a chat and has great knowledge of the local area (and golf courses).
We are very excited to have opened our retail range in Paper Chase Cafe. We are now known as Paper Chase Cafe & Providore with very exciting times ahead. If you have allergies, our one stop shop will cater to your needs. We specialise in gluten free, lactose free & fructose free options for your grocery needs. We stock ranges such as Bob's Mill, Orgram, Schar, Simply Wize, Forage, TeaTonic and much much more. We are always researching & looking for more products for our shelves. Just because you have allergies does not mean you cannot have gourmet foods to take home.

Great food, great service with happy easy going atmosphere
Great coffee, simple yet enticing menu that makes it easy to choose. Large range of specials that give additional choices that change regularly so the customers who frequent the restaurant don't get tired of the menu. Various options for people who are either gluten free, vegetarian or can cater to other needs. Highly recommended.

Love Paper Chase. The food is delicious aNd I love that the have different dietary options which can be applied to almost every meal. The staff are all wonderful and can help in anyway. The meals are great value for money, restaurant quality in a great happy atmosphere. Will definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends.

More than just Coffee
Great Coffee. Its the Vittoria Brand and is one of the stronger coffee flavors in the Bairnsdale area. Always well made and with friendly service. They also have a coffee loyalty card buy 9 and get the tenth free.
Friendly staff, prompt service and a warm and vibrant setting are just some of the reasons we keep coming back. The food is consistently amazing with the menu also accommodating food allergies and intolerances. Our 'go to' cafe to take visiting friends and family.
A few weeks ago we visited the Paper Chase cafe. The staff gave exceptional customer service and the coffee was on par with Melbourne standards - excellent! The crepe cake was delicious especially that Balsamic Vinegar! I took my 4 year old and it was a very child-friendly environment. Will definitely visit again, thanks :)

Awesome chicken parmigiana pie! Was absolutely delicious, couldn't eat it all because it was so filling. Topped of with a light beer, fantastic, quick service and a lovely relaxing atmosphere in the courtyard. Will definitely be going back for more!
