The Golden Ox

I haven’t been to the Golden Ox in over five years since my husband and I moved interstate to start a family and just moved back to Redcliffe. We decided to go to the restaurant as soon as we got back and it was just as good as ever and even better! I had the twice cooked duck and a glass of wine on the side, while my husband tried the macadamia barramundi that he let me have a bite of and absolutely loved! My husband and I are looking forward to taking our kids there for a family night as we were very impressed.

Tell us about your experience... We've been going to the Ox for many years - we even got married there 5 years ago. I can't fault the place - the food is always perfect ! Service is attentive and the prices are reasonable for the high quality that you always get there. I love that they always have a selection of art work from local artists on the walls - Nick is always promoting Redcliffe and it's people ! I would recommend The Ox to anyone who is looking for a great meal and wonderful atmosphere for a day or night out.

I have been coming to The Golden Ox for over seven years and I honestly have never had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent and consistent. Last time I had the chicken Mediterranean, absolutely fantastic. Being someone who has helped run restaurants for a long time this place is has some of the best management in the industry. Everything is reasonably priced, and doesn’t take forever to come out. The interior has not aged a bit, and still feels comfortable and relaxing. I’ll definitely be bringing my mum here for mother’s day!

My wife and I visited the restaurant during a Wednesday night in Redcliffe. We had the seafood degustation and the food quality was faultless. We could not complain about the service because even though it was busy we got our food very quickly, and the waitperson showed class that only quality training can bring. Every course was spot on and the wine perfectly matched. We walked out happy and suggest others to try it too.

The Golden Ox staff made this experience amazing. From the attentive service to the absolutely beautiful interior. I could not fault a thing with this restaurant. The major positives werethe extensive wine list and vegetarian risotto verde! It's very hard to find fine dining with a good vegetarian main so thank you for delivering. The food was impeccable along with the service. An excellent venue to enjoy with someone you like.

After seeing all the rave reviews from fellow diners, I finally had the opportunity to visit here. Oh man, nothing has ever been up to my exceedingly high expectations as much as this place! It excelled in every way. The restaurant had an elegant and atmospheric feel, with warm lights and pleasant piano music. The owner/ manager was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The staff are spot on and the food was to die for!! I am a vego, and so was another in my company. We had the risotto verde. Most probably the best of my life! Delectable and with plenty of flavour. Everyone from my party of four loved their meal. The wine on offer was impressively extensive. I cannot fault this place!! I'll be back soon :D

We were so busy organising every little thing for our wedding, and the Golden Ox helped us out immensely. Not only did we get the opportunity to see the space set up for a function, but the extremely helpful wedding coordinator took the time to answer our questions, advise how the room would be set for a wedding etc. The gardens were stunning, such beautiful water features and even a lovely bridge! We were also offered the most amazing food, all of our friends and family were raving about it afterwards. In comparison to other nearby venues we viewed The Golden Ox was the most beautiful and accommodating, I’ll be recommending it to all my friends!

Quite possible the best restaurant I have been to in Queensland. Loved it. From walking in to walking out it was a pleasure. The menu was imaginative and the dishes had some amazing combinations of flavours, all with generous portions. The stand- out dish for me was the macadamia barrumundi, which my partner had too – utterly fantastic. Every dish that came out was perfectly executed, each mouthful was a joy. I've been waiting to find somewhere like this since I arrived in Australia nearly a year ago. A dessert of crème brulee came out... genius, absolute genius it left us on a high when we left. Can’t thank the team at The Golden Ox enough for sharing their amazing food with us.

My husband and I had our wedding here last month, and the entire day was flawless. We used the spectacular gardens for our ceremony and photos and it was fantastic, both in practical terms by making it easy for our guests and us, as well as being such a beautiful and intimate location that looks amazing in the photos. High quality food (and plenty of it!) was an important factor for my husband and me and we weren’t disappointed. The Golden Ox are renowned for their stunning cuisine and it was absolutely spectacular. The meals were fresh, extensive (we had some vegetarian guests) and delightful! The wedding coordinator was organised and approachable and patient with all my hundreds of questions and queries! The restaurant owner on the night was extremely friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make the night a success - in which it certainly was! The night ran so smoothly and all of our guests commented on how great the food and service was. I am so glad with our decision to have our wedding at the golden ox - they displayed the upmost professionalism at all times!

Had dinner at the The Golden Ox last Friday night, great food , good atmosphere and good servers , was seated and it was busy we were served straight away and received meals within 20 minutes of ordering. I had the lamb rump Normandy, which was amazing, and the bombe alaska. I will defiantly be back.

A friend and I dined at The Golden Ox last night. The food was fresh, delicious, beautifully presented and with subtle, sophisticated flavours. I had the unforgettable duck norma jean with shiraz grape and mustard jus. It was perfect food for a hot Brisbane evening and the portion sizes were generous. I dine out frequently and have travelled extensively around Australia, and this food ranks as one of the best I’ve had.

My husband and I dined at The Golden Ox tonight for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The food was superb, the staff both professional and friendly, and the atmosphere just right. The marinated mushrooms were exquisite and the Duck Renoir perfect. My husband had the eye fillet and said it's the best steak he's had in nearly 10 years. We both agreed it's one of the best restaurants we've eaten in, both here and in the UK, and we are already planning on when we next dine there. It was our 21st anniversary today, and The Golden Ox is now on of our top 5 favourite restaurants. Congratulations also, on the award they received today for the best dining on the peninsula - well deserved. Can't wait to return, and highly recommended to everyone looking for a lovely night out.

The Tzimas family has owned and run this iconic Redcliffe restaurant and function centre since 1977 and locals would affirm that they’ve hardly put a foot wrong since. Divided into a contemporary restaurant, cocktail bar, function rooms and secluded gardens, The Golden Ox is a venue for all occasions and seasons; their menu changes constantly but always offers the finest Queensland seafood. Among the options – each prepared entirely in house – look out for vanilla and five spice infused duck served with steamed rice, Chinese glazed vegetables and chilli plum sauce.

My husband and I eat at The Golden Ox frequently because it is consistently excellent for both people with families and also those on business. The meals have always been great, with a constant variety of dishes, and we both look forward to the seasonal changes. The wait staff are exceptional. They are professionals who know the menu inside out providing excellent advice and unobtrusive service. There is a fabulous collection of wines by the glass and they have a lovely display showcasing the wide selection. What more could you want. If I ever need to take a client to dine, The Golden Ox is my first choice and I'm never disappointed. I can thoroughly recommend The Golden Ox to anyone wanting great food and service.

So good. Recently popped in for dinner with the family. What a place. Fantastic service, one of the best places on the north side. The food was stunning had the duck Renoir with delicious crispy skin. Kids had the macadamia barramundi which was also cooked to perfection. Will I go back? Absolutely!!!

Given I am vegetarian I love the selection of vegetarian dishes they had on the menu. Many restaurants either don't bother listing vegetarian dishes or provide only salads. I had the bell pepper narnia which was absolutely unforgettable. The Golden Ox is also willing to adapt dishes to suit particular dietary requirements without fuss, which is so rare in this industry.

Another amazing meal at The Golden Ox on Friday. We were definitely looked after as always and the food was once again amazing. It is an absolute pleasure to look forward to going to The Golden Ox and it’s great to know that every time it is just spot on.

I had a FANTASTIC time at The Golden Ox. Virginia, the front of house, ensured we were quickly seated and comfortable. She was very bubbly and had fantastic customer service. The food was also exceptional – I had the crumbed green olives entrée, an amazing chicken dish and the spectacular Bombe Alaska. Utterly brilliant, we will be coming here many more times.

A wonderful restaurant that has always exceeded our expectations. I had the lamb rump Normandy, which was unbelievably tender, and my wife had the bell pepper narnia which she loved. Perfect. The staff are very prompt and the service on all occasions I’ve been was excellent. I LOVE the interiors....so elegant. It’s the nicest place in Redcliffe area, and I can’t wait to go back.

We went to The Golden Ox on Saturday night for dinner after hearing heaps of great comments about it and I have to say, they were right, the food was great and everything that came out to other tables also looked fabulous! The service was exceptional and our meals arrived very quickly. Will definitely be returning.

This was my second visit and again The Golden Ox in my mind is the best place to dine on the Redcliffe Peninsula. Service is friendly and our waiter really knew his stuff when it came to explaining the menu which has a good variety of choices and a lack of pretension. The calamari mondo entree and Wagyu rump main were both excellent and accompanied by a great choice of wine. My partner had the lamb rump normandy and it was cooked perfectly. Well worth it, and left me with a great reason to revisit Redcliffe.

I went to The Golden Ox over the weekend, and I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The meals were cooked to perfection, and the staff were polite and helpful. I have to recommend their delectable desserts, they are to die for!

My husband and i went to the golden ox last wednesday night for the seafood degustation- it was magic. The food was so tasty- the portions were really good, we felt like we had walked away with an absolute bargain at the end of the night. We will be making sure we make it to another one very soon.

I had the wonderful opportunity to try the restaurant's Wagyu beef dish, and I wasn't disappointed. The meat was incredibly tender and flavoursome, and the potatoes were divine. I'll be sure to recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family.

I went here over the weekend with my girlfriends for lunch. The food was really tasty, the service was very good. We all really enjoyed our meals, we are going back next month for dinner.

My wife and i had a family get-together over the weekend at the golden ox. The food was delicious. I have to mention we are regulars to the ox as we really loved the new menu- everyone was very happy. We will continue going back to the ox, we can always count on good service, great food and a great night out.

Went to a mates wedding there recently- had da great day, the staff were really good as he was a bit nervous, they really just made the day so easy and the food was great.

My fiancee and i went for a meal at the golden ox in Redcliffe over the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of our meals. My fiancee isnt a huge seafood lover but i am, so he ordered the veal denube to start and then the kilcoy steak with all the trimmings and i had the crumbed calamari and the chicken and prawn ravioli. you know those times when you order and you wish you had ordered what the other person has?? I didnt have that moment; everything i ordered looked fresh and beautiful and tasted just as good. We will absolutely be going back

The food here is simply delightful, staff are really friendly and we are always made to feel really welcome, we love going to the golden ox, great place and it ticks all the boxes-

I am use to dining out a lot and we were so pleased to have found the golden ox! What a fantastic place. The food was superb, the service was- well we couldnt fault anything. We really enjoyed all our dishes. The piano playing in the background made for great atmosphere. We will be making sure we drive to redcliffe for a meal out much more often!

We are visiting family in Redcliffe at the moment, and not being locals, we took the advice of my sister-in-law and headed to the Golden Ox yesterday for lunch. If you're a local, or ever just passing through, definitely make time in your schedule to dine there. The staff did not put a foot wrong, and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the food. I had tender medallions of veal with sauteed potatoes, steamed greens and a delicious sauce. The flavours: amazing. My brother and his wife really hit the jackpot though, with a hot and cold seafood platter to share. They ended up having to give everyone a taste, it was just superb... Crab, bugs, prawns and oysters, as well as crumbed whiting, scallops, calamari and mussels. ALL with a side of chips and beautiful garden salad. We couldn't believe our luck with this place, and can't wait till our next visit to return. Thanks Nick and Virginia, and Pete (the chef) for making our stay in Redcliffe a great experience.

My husband and I went to a wedding here a few weeks ago. It is such a great place, and the food tastes amazing. We are now planning my husbands birthday in the restaurant.

This is a great place for functions. We have had our last 3 work Christmas parties here, and are going back this year. Great music and a decent size dancing floor. Staff are always great and make sure we have a great time.

What a great little secret this place is. I have lived in the area for 10 years, and although I drive past it quite often, I never really thought about dining there until a friend suggested it. Such a superb restaurant.

Food is tasty, and well presented. Restaurant has a nice feel and staff are welcoming. Would recommend to others. And will dine there again.

I moved to the area a few months ago and found this restaurant. The food is beautiful and the staff are lovely and so attentive. I loved it!
