Beeh here 4-5 times. Will be back again!
I like the easy atmosphere at Era and friends often choose this as a meeting place. The food is always good, sometimes interesting but rarely outstanding. nevertheless the overall ambience and reliable quality seem to draw us back again and again.
A really pleasant establishment. The décor’s chic and precise but with enough warmth not to be clinical. The service was attentive and pleasant, but the food is what it’s all about. The entree of Seared scallops was fabulous, as was the Chargrilled Quail, although some what small in size. Not to worry, all was made up for by the ample size of the Braised Pork belly that just fell with a gentle prod from a fork. The Beef Fillet too, accompanied by snails and Tomato Tartlet, was beautifully tender. The outside bar with views of the adjoining bottle shop with its stylish display of fantastic wines was great to relax before the meal. And oh what a fantastic wine list - reasonably priced too!
Excelling in food, wine and service, Era Bistro continues to carve its place among Brisbane’s finest restaurants. A sleek, contemporary space simply dressed in shades of charcoal, with a vibrant outdoor area for al fresco dining, this South Brisbane venue maintains a casual elegance that befits every occasion, from lavish large-scale functions to an intimate meal for two. The Chef’s emphasis on execution and produce – fresh, local and seasonal, allowing the flavours to set the tone of each dish. Giving Brisbane diners more diverse food experiences, and to many a diner’s pleasant surprise, very reasonably priced. Combined with a wine list featuring some of Australia’s finest drops, Era Bistro delivers a dining experience that rewards every palate.
The changes in the Era kitchen has coincided with a major shift in Brisbane's dining landscape – and Josh the Head Chef has grasped the opportunity to radically change Era's offerings with a bold new menu concept. Era has always had a reputation for fine dining, special occasions, corporate events and a very popular pre-show menu which is still available. With this new menu, Josh is aiming to build on that reputation, but move away from the singular fine-dining experience towards a more sociable format with the emphasis on a regularly changing menu of share plates.
The launch of Era’s new Spring Menu marks the return of Owen Lacey to the position of Executive Chef of the Era team.An integral part of the original pre-Era Circa team, Owen is well known amongst industry peers as a quiet achiever – letting the dishes he creates do the talking. A guest contributor to various national cooking magazines, his original recipes – underpinned by his simple and fresh philosophy, have also featured in many recently published cook books.
